Thats it. I got the new Facebook. Here are my First Impressions...
Well It looks REALLY REALLY similar to twitter.
The publisher is now prominent(it says What's on your mind?). It was like when I used to use the beta of the old Facebook redesign. They used to have a publisher (which they removed in the final release).
Here are the few things I see:
- The thumbnails now have rounded edges
- The feed doesn't show one line stories
- All the old "full" stories on my wall are now one lined (commented on a photo, became a fan of)
- It focuses more on "sharing" stuff. not just about playing games
- The highlights section on the right shows stuff that people have interacted with the most. For me this is really... um... inaccurate, how does fb decide this?
- The profiles now show (<name> & friends, just <name>, just friends)
- On the left are the filters, you can filter by News Feed, Public Profiles and Friends lists and Different Apps
They say this is supposed to be real time but its not. I don't see new posts as they appear. I have to refresh the page.
My final impression:
Its really cool to see something new, but is confusing to some people because some online stories ARE important. Facebook needs to make a little interactive thingy to guide users through it . UPDATE: Its really confusing to use...
